Developing Fearless Faith

There are many individuals in the Bible who demonstrated a fearless faith in the midst of overwhelming circumstances. They knew that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was a faithful God who kept His promises. As Christians, God has given us the measure of faith. God wants us to develop a faith that is fearless, confident, and unwavering in the midst of any situation – a faith that receives from God. Developing a fearless faith doesn’t happen accidently. It occurs on purpose as we walk in the light of the Word.

Agreeing with God’s Word is the first step in developing a fearless faith. This kind of faith refuses to let anything shake us from believing God’s Word. The Amplified Translation of Hebrews 10:35 says, “Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward.” Faith in God begins with faith in His Word. Faith in God’s Word always produces glorious results. David is a good example. As a teenager, he had a fearless faith. He knew about his covenant with God, set himself in agreement with the Lord, and refused to let anyone talk him out of fighting the giant. David believed the Word and his faith had corresponding actions.

The second aspect of developing a fearless faith is to keep company with strong believers. This is illustrated in 1 Samuel 22:1-2 when four hundred men that were distressed, in debt, and discontented gathered themselves together with David at the cave Adullam. He became their captain and these men were completely transformed into David’s mighty men. Those that we surround ourselves with will affect our lives. We must make sure that we spend time with people who take God at His Word and believe Him even in difficult situations. We need to choose friends that love God’s Word and are led by the Spirit.

The third characteristic of fearless faith is to never let go. A man named Shammah was one of the four hundred that came to David at the cave Adullam. Because of David’s influence, Shammah was a changed man. Second Samuel 23:11-12 relates the account of Shammah being attacked by the Philistine army. Instead of responding in fear, he was bold and confident as he stood his ground and defeated the Philistines. We, also, must refuse to be moved by what we see, hear, or feel. Fearless faith never gives up and refuses to quit until the promise of God is manifested.

Keep believing, keep speaking and keep walking in faith. Be fearless and you will begin to experience victory after victory!
