Experiencing God's Goodness

by Sherry Jones

Our God is a good God. Many people throughout the Bible experienced the goodness of God. In the Old Testament, Moses asked God to see His glory and God responded with “I will make all my goodness pass before thee” (Exodus 33:18-19). God uses the terms “glory” and “goodness” interchangeably. In the mind of God, when you ask to see His glory, God will show you His goodness. Moses didn’t see all the goodness of God. The psalmist declared and acknowledged, “Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee” (Psalm 31:19). God has laid up, stored up, and placed in reserve His goodness for those who honor and reverence Him. There is still much more laid up and stored up for you. God’s goodness has been waiting for you!

The goodness of God doesn’t come and go with the seasons. He desires to bless you, heal you, deliver you, and prosper you every day. If you are not expecting nor experiencing the goodness of God in every part of your life, it’s time for a change on your part. It’s time to think about the difference between simply knowing that God is good versus experiencing God’s goodness.

If you really want to press in to His goodness, start accepting that you must make an effort to learn all you can about His goodness. It’s surprising the number of people who read their Bibles without discerning the goodness of God. But once you renew your mind to His goodness and begin to actually believe it, it becomes much easier to receive it.

What is missing in your life today? What do you pray for, long for, and dream about? If it lines up with the Word of God, He wants you to have it. God has an endless supply of His goodness that has been reserved for you. So take a moment right now, reach out and receive it!
