All Dressed Up

Many Christians live and die and never see themselves the way that God sees them. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “For if a man is in Christ, he becomes a new person altogether – the past is finished and gone, everything has become fresh and new” (1 Corinthians 5:17 – Phillips Translation). Discovering who we are in Christ is vital because we have experienced a radical change. We are no longer forgiven sinners. We are now in right standing with God.

Many voices try to tell us who and what we are. But our true identity is who God created us to be. We need to see ourselves the way God sees us and He sees us in Christ. In the New Testament, primarily in Paul’s epistles, there are 130 scriptures that tell us who we are and what we have in Christ. In Christ, we are blessed, prosperous, complete in Him, delivered, set free, healed, joined to the Lord, and always triumphant. Our voice needs to agree with the Word of God. When we “begin to say,” we are “on our way!” When we speak God’s Word, we are not making reality, because, in truth, God’s Words are already reality.

It is our responsibility to take God’s Word and renew our minds to who we are in Christ. When we know who we are, the lies of Satan cannot intimidate us and fear will not be able to dominate us. When we know who we are in Christ, we will know why we are here and what God has called us to do in this life. Every day, we put on the fresh garments of our new nature by renewing our minds to who we are in Christ.
