The Benefits of Prayer

The Benefits of Prayer

Many people in the Bible including David, Jesus, and Paul had powerful and consistent prayer lives that not only affected them but impacted their world. There are many benefits to becoming a person of prayer.

  1. Prayer is the way we partner with God to see His plans and purposes come to pass in our lives and in the lives of those we love. Jeremiah 33:3 says “Call unto me, and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

  2. Prayer is the means by which we can actually enter into the presence of God. Psalm 100:4 says, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.”

  3. Prayer helps us to unload the burdens released upon us. Philippians 4:6 says, “Be careful for nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.”

  4. Prayer is a means to receive revelation and strength from God. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

  5. Prayer stops the devil. Philippians 2:9-10 says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name above every name: That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in Heaven and things in the earth, and things under the earth.”

  6. Prayer speaks to mountains. Mark 11:23 says, “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

As a result of our prayer life, we will become confident, bold, courageous, and joyful as we experience the power of answered prayer.
