Habits For Life

It is what you do daily that will make a difference in your life. The truth is, if you want to put an end to being defeated and discouraged, and if you want to stop going around the same mountain over and over again, you have a decision to make. Is victory important to you? What you do on a daily basis will determine what you have in this life. Someone once said, “An anointed daily routine produces glorious results.” Here are seven habits for life that will strengthen you, protect you from the devil and his schemes, and keep you winning in every circumstance and situation.

  1. Habit 1 – Feed your spirit. We all think about feeding our bodies but do not give much thought to feeding our spirits. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:14). The way to feed our spirit is to read the Word every day. We must arrange our schedule around the Word instead of trying to make the Word fit into our busy lives.

  2. Habit 2 – Build your faith. The only one who can guarantee that you have a faith that is strong and steadfast is you. God has given you the tools you need to develop the faith that moves mountains, shuts the mouths of lions, and puts whole armies to flight. The key to building faith that works is hearing the Word of God again and again (Romans 10:17). Repetition is the key.

  3. Habit 3 – Speak the Word. You’ve heard the saying, “You are what you eat” but did you also realize that “you are what you speak.” You need to speak the Word over your life in every situation that you encounter. Confess God’s Word in faith! It will absolutely change your life.

  4. Habit 4 – Control your thoughts. Your thoughts affect your words which affect every other area of your life. Are your thoughts healthy or toxic? You are admonished to think in line with the Word of God. As you meditate on God’s Word, don’t just hear it. You must give it your full attention and become one with it.

  5. Habit 5 – Praise the Lord. Praise is the language of faith. You need to become fluent in praise. No matter what is happening in your life, you have countless reasons to thank Him (Psalm 34:1). There is a connection between praise and strength.

  6. Habit 6 – Pray in the Spirit. When you pray in the Spirit, it’s like keeping your batteries charged up (1 Cor. 14:4). It also allows you to pray above what you know in the natural. It takes you into the spiritual realm and opens the door to revelation, wisdom, instruction, and encouragement.

  7. Habit 7 – Get rid of extra baggage. Get rid of everything that is slowing you down. What are you carrying around? Maybe it’s a bad habit. Make a decision to get rid of it today.

When you put these habits into practice on a daily basis, you will develop a strong spirit that will enforce Satan’s defeat at every turn.
