Be Not Weary

It’s easy to give up when the heat is on and the fire from hell’s fury is roaring. But we are instructed in the scriptures to “not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Gal. 6:9). There are a number of reasons that God’s people quit on their faith instead of sticking with it, when dealing with the devil and his schemes.

One of the obvious reasons is that many Christians begin to function in their own strength and ability endeavoring to solve their problems instead of relying upon God and His wisdom. Another reason is that many times, God’s people expect instant results, but the reality is that it doesn’t always happen that way. The third reason is that Christians, who should know better, look at their problems instead of focusing on God and His promises.

But we can follow David’s example and implement what he did in the midst of a devastating situation when he encountered overwhelming problems which affected every aspect of his life. Everyone’s family, including his, had been captured by the enemy and carried off as prisoners. All of David’s army was so overwhelmed that they talked of stoning their leader. But David, the man of God, began to encourage himself in the Lord. To many, this may have seemed ridiculous, but David knew about the integrity of God’s Word and the power of faith to alter the strategies of the evil one. As he looked to the Lord and magnified Him that day, he received strength and was given a plan to deal with the enemy effectively. David didn’t give up or quit when everything seemed to be going against him.

Don’t give up! No matter what you are going through, the Word of God will deliver you and your faith will see you through!
