What Was I Thinking?

The greatest battles we will ever fight take place in our minds. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Our thoughts are powerful and the deceiver knows the significance of our thoughts and what they produce. Our mind is a “thought factory” and the enemy delights in filling our mind with his thoughts.

As believers, we must change the way we think. God wants us to think His thoughts. According to Isaiah 55:8-9, His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are higher than our ways. As we continue to look at the Word, the image we have of ourselves and our situations will change. We can’t keep looking at the Word and see ourselves as defeated, sick, insecure, weak, and poor.

When we are full of the Word, Satan will not be able to frighten us with his suggestions. The devil can’t read your mind but all he can do is suggest things for you to think. He presents his lies but he can’t make you think them. You will have to cast these negative thoughts down on a daily basis because Satan is persistent in his efforts to mislead you.

How do we cast down every negative thought? First of all, we don’t accept them when they pop into our minds. And second, we totally refuse to entertain them or muse on them. We replace those negative thoughts with God’s thoughts which are the Word of God. Satan cannot defeat us when our minds are renewed to God’s Word.
