When Attacks Come

When problems, trials, and difficulties come, we must make time for God. Awesome things happen in the presence of God! It is a place of safety and a place of protection – a powerful place. Acts 4:13 says “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled, and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Because they had been with Jesus, they were different from the average person. His presence changed them.

Another important thing we can do when attacks come is to develop our prayer life. When we need something, we need to run to God and ask Him for it. James 5:16 says “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” On a frequent basis, Jesus left His disciples to spend time alone to commune with His Father. He would come back refreshed and empowered. In the same way, as you pray in the Spirit and pray according to the Word, you will also be refreshed and empowered and able to overcome all of the obstacles and “fiery darts” the devil sends your way.

The third thing we must do is to speak the Word in those turbulent times when we come under attack. God’s Word is powerful and the Word coming out of your mouth is like a two-edged sword that strikes fear into the devil and his crowd. It is by God’s Word that we overcome in every situation. Ephesians 6:17 says “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God.” God’s Word is the most powerful weapon we have. We must never tell the devil what we feel or what we think. Instead, tell him what God’s Word says about you and what God has promised you.

Don’t let the devil have the last word. Make a commitment to make time for God, have a consistent prayer life, and always speak God’s Word and what He says about you. In this way, you will live the life of an overcomer and be victorious in any situation.
