When The Pressure Is On

Sometimes when bad things happen, we don’t want to do the right thing. Instead, we just want to retreat. However, for believers, the scripture declares in Galatians 6:9 “do not be weary in well doing” or to say it another way “to not get weary of doing what is right.” No matter what has come against us, God always wants us to get up on our feet and move forward in Him. Victory doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because of things we choose to do in the midst of the hard or difficult circumstances of life. There are some specific things that we can do when we encounter these challenges that will always help us come out on top.

  1. Make God your “safe place” when you need His protection. Psalm 91:2 says, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I put my trust.”

  2. Make prayer a priority in your life. When we communicate with Him, He promises to hear us and to answer us. Talk to God all of the time – not just when things are troublesome or hard. Colossians 4:2 admonishes us to “continue in prayer.”

  3. Declare God’s promises over your life every day. Faith is always spoken. Hebrews 4:14 says, “Let us hold fast our profession.” Our spoken words determine what we have in life.

  4. Make victory your expectation. Second Corinthians 2:14 says, “Now thanks be to God which always causeth us to triumph in Christ.” We are on the winning side!

  5. Make praise the sound that comes from your lips. The Apostle Paul admonished the believers at Philippi to “rejoice in the Lord always and again I say, rejoice.” Rejoicing helps us to keep our attention on God.

If we will do these things when the pressure is on, our circumstances will change and we will experience the victory that is ours in Christ.
