Live Laughing

Jesus desired for us to be joyful. John 15:11 says, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” God is joyful and Heaven is a joyful place. Throughout the New Testament, when the gospel was preached and received, there was great joy in that place. Remember the great joy that you experienced after making Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior? The joy of the Lord became your strength. As a new creation, the joy of the Lord is inside of you. As you continue to look into the Word and confess what the Bible says about you, joy and laughter will be the prevailing characteristics in your life, regardless of the circumstances you face. First Thessalonians 5:16 says, “Rejoice evermore.” Our Heavenly Father wants us to walk in joy and experience gladness and laughter every day.

We have a Heavenly Father that sits in the heavens and laughs (Psalms 2:4). Dr. Roy Hicks said, “We are His offspring and have inherited this ability to laugh and express joy.” There are several reasons why we can laugh every day.

  1. We are in a unique position with God. Ephesians 2:6 says, “And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” We already have the victory because of our union with Christ.

  2. We have His promises. Second Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” Jeremiah 1:12 says that God “watches over His Word to perform it” (RSV).

  3. He has given us the measure of faith. First John 5:4 says, “And this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” Our faith receives the promises of God.

Make it a practice to laugh every day. Laughter is one of the most effective weapons that we have as believers. God intended laughter to always be an important part of our life.
