Hearing From God

One of the greatest privileges we have as Christians is being able to hear from God and to be led by His Spirit. God wants to talk to us. Keith Moore said, “If I can hear from God, I have it made.” God sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in us, to lead us, and to guide us. We are not living under the Old Covenant in which God’s people had to run to the priest to find out what they ought to be doing.

God wants us to move on with our lives. He has new places to take us and new lessons to teach us. He leads us one step at a time. People are waiting to see God’s whole blueprint for their lives, but that does not require faith. God’s plan unfolds step by step. The scripture says in Genesis 12:1, “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee. Hebrews 11:8 states of Abraham, “And he went out, not knowing whither he went.” Abraham boldly stepped out and followed the leading of the Lord. The Message Bible says, “When he left, he had no idea where he was going.” Even though he was headed in a new direction, he was confident in following God’s plan for his life. We need to have the same attitude of faith knowing that we are being led by the Spirit of God. We don’t need to spend our lives in so much fear of making a mistake that we never do anything. We must be confident in His ability and declare our faith in Him.

There are some things that you can speak over your life. “I hear from God! I am led by Him. I know my Father’s voice! The voice of a stranger, I will not follow! I am guided by the Holy Spirit.” As Abraham took steps of faith day by day, he fulfilled the will of God for his life. Abraham learned to trust God and to be led one step at a time. We have the Spirit of God, who is a genius, living on the inside of us to lead us, direct us, and guide us. It is a wonderful thing to be led by the Spirit of God.
