How Dreams Come True

Walking with God is the place that dreams come true! The Living Bible says, “The steps of a good man are directed by the Lord. He delights in each step they take.” To walk with God means to stay in the word and listen to His voice. God desires to reveal His plan to us one step at a time. Like Abraham, we must follow the pathway in which God leads us. The scripture says, “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing wither he went” (Hebrews 11:8). Like Abraham, we are to be led by the Spirit of God. But there are some things we need to do in order to see the fulfillment of the dream that God has placed in our hearts.

The first thing is that we must let go of our past. First Samuel 1:16 says, “The Lord said unto Samuel, How long will thou mourn for Saul seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel?” In this situation, the Lord wanted Samuel to move on. Many times, we miss the “new beginning” by hanging on to the old circumstance. In another instance, God said to Joshua, “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan” (Joshua 1:2). God was telling Joshua, “This is a new day. Don’t even look back because it is time to move forward.” In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul declared, “This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before” (Philippians 3:13). Paul was announcing that his past would not steal his future. The Message Bible says, “I’m off and running and not turning back.”

The second thing we must do in order to fulfill God’s plan and purpose is to “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it” (Habakkuk 2:2). Something happens when you write your vision down. It not only helps you stay focused on what God has spoken to you, but it inspires others to action as well when they read it.

God is the One who gives us our dreams for our lives. He knows where we are going and how we will get there. If we seek Him and listen to His voice, he will direct us in the path that will lead us to fulfilling the dreams He has placed in our heart. But just like Abraham, Joshua, and Paul, we must take steps of faith in order to see the fulfillment of our dreams. As the Apostle, John put it so well in 1 John 5:4, “This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.”
