The Power of Believing God

The Power of Believing God

Smith Wigglesworth said, “There is something about believing God that will cause Him to pass over a million people just to get to you. In Acts 5:14, the scripture says, “And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women.” Individuals that made Jesus the Lord of their lives were called “believers.” Believing is an action word. This is a person who is presently believing and reaching forward right now to grasp hold of what God has promised.

During an intense storm at sea, the Apostle Paul in Acts 27:25 announced to the ship’s crew as they traveled to Rome, “Sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.” Paul had confidence in God. He trusted and relied upon God to reach his destination regardless of the circumstances. Like Paul, every believer needs to exercise faith in God’s Word, but there are several things we need to know about faith.

  1. Faith comes one way. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” When you hear the Word, truly hear it, faith always comes. When faith comes, everything changes.

  2. Faith is released one way. Mark 11:23 says, “For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Faith must be released in words.

  3. Faith brings results every time. First John 5:4 says, “And this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” Your faith is powerful and produces results.

No matter what people think about faith, they must realize that God is a faith God and has designed that the just shall live by faith.

Believing God is believing His Word. Jesus said in Mark 9:23, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” The Johnson translation of this passage says, “It is not a question of whether I can do anything; rather, it is a question of whether you can believe. Anything can happen if you believe.”
