How To Whip The Devil
How to Whip the Devil
The devil always wants to have the upper hand in our lives. Satan would like for us to believe that he is all powerful, but God’s Word tells us that Satan is a deceiver and a liar and the truth is not in him. Jesus told His disciples in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give onto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Satan may attack us, but that’s no reason that he has to defeat us. As believers, we must act on the Word and resist the devil. If we don’t resist him, he won’t flee. But this decision is one that we must make because God won’t make it for us.
When the devil shows up, there are several things that we can do that will enforce his defeat and put him on the run.
1) We must make time for God. We get so busy with our everyday responsibilities that our time with God is eliminated or is greatly diminished. However, we all have the same amount of time allotted to us. We need to spend enough time with Him that we are conscious of His presence. Psalm 16:11 says, “Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” His presence changes us. 2) We must develop a prayer life. When we need something, we must ask God for it. Philippians 4:6 says, “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplications with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” As we spend time in prayer, we will get refilled and refreshed. 3) We must make a habit of speaking God’s Word. Words carry power. What is it that is coming out of your lips? Don’t tell the devil what you feel or what you think. Tell him what God has promised you. God’s Word is one of the most powerful weapons we have. How do we talk about our lives? How do we talk about our future? Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall my Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
By making time for God, developing a prayer life, and speaking God’s Word, amazing things will happen. As we continually enforce Satan’s defeat, we will demonstrate how to “whip the devil” and move forward in the will of God.
