The ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer is vitally important. Taking advantage of this ministry means that you would be at the right place at the right time, meeting the right people and avoiding the snares designed by the devil to trip you up. Part of the Holy Spirit’s ministry in your life is to get you safely to your God-ordained destination. The Spirit’s leading can be trusted, because as the third person of the Godhead, He knows how to get you to where you are supposed to be.

To be led by the Spirit of God, you must know that you are capable of being led. The scripture says in Proverbs 20:27, “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” It takes faith to be led by the Spirit of God. But Jesus promises us in John 16:13, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.” The Holy Spirit and the Word of God are always in agreement. God’s Word must become the supreme authority in your life and you must commit to being guided by it. You must trust the Word more than your senses or the opinions of others. Being led by the Spirit of God is a learning process. The more that you follow His leading, the better you will become at being directed by His Spirit. To live the most productive Christian life, we must learn to make being led by the Spirit a way of life.

One of the main hindrances to being led by the Spirit of God is fear. But Paul wrote in 2 Timothy, 1:7. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Based on that passage alone, you don’t have to be fearful of missing God. Larry Huggins said, “You can’t mess things up so badly that God can’t fix them.” The scripture says in Psalms 37:23-24, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.”

Smith Wigglesworth said, “Every believer needs to get lost in the spirit every day, before they get out of bed.” Smith Wigglesworth lived a life of walking in the Spirit and manifested the power of a New Testament believer in his life. As you are being led by the Spirit of God, you will discover your inheritance and your destiny. Every day, you should be taking deliberate steps to be led by the Spirit of God. He will take you step by step into the fullness of God’s plans and purposes for your life.
