Dare To Dream   by Sherry Jones

What does God want me to do with my life? This question is not just for young people. God does not stop providing direction just because someone has become older. God has a unique and taylor-made plan for your life which was designed and crafted with you in mind. Our job is to find out what it is that God wants us to do. God doesn’t show us everything at once. He doesn’t give us all the same dream. He has a grand plan for our lives. But there are a few things that we must do in order to see that plan come to pass.

1) We must dare to dream big dreams for God. Pastor D.L. Moody told his sons on his death bed, “If God really is your senior partner, make your plans big!” We can dream big dreams because God is able to help us fulfill them, and when we release our faith in God’s ability, things will begin to happen. Paul wrote in 2 Cor. 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you.” He wrote in Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” In 2 Tim. 1:12, Paul wrote, “He is able to keep that which I have committed unto him,” and in Romans 4:21, Paul wrote, “What he had promised, he was able also to perform.”

2) We must dare to believe our dream. God never promised us that it would be easy. When it seems that the devil has shattered our dream, we must pick up the pieces, put it back together, and continue toward the fulfillment of that dream. Someone said, “A dream becomes a reality because somebody wants it to be.” Keep believing in the dream that God gave you. Mark 9:23 says, “If thou cast believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”

3) We must learn to write down our vision. Only 5% of Americans ever write down their ideas, dreams, and visions. Someone said, “Writing one’s thoughts crystallizes his thinking, which in turn, promotes him to action.” We have a tendency to think that when God speaks to us, we will remember what He told us, but the truth is that we often forget. When you write down your dream, this serves as a focal point, which keeps us from drifting away from God’s plan for our lives.

4) We must learn to take action. When God shows you that something is possible, you must act on that revelation. Someone said, “Hope looks to the future with expectation but faith immediately reaches out into that future, grasps hold of the thing promised by God, and draws it into the present.” Hope waits for circumstances to come in line, but faith causes circumstances to line up. James wrote in James 2:20, “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead.” We must run toward the dream that God places in our heart. We can’t afford to get sidetracked. God is looking for someone who will dream big dreams, believe in those dreams, and then launch out to bring them to pass.

To Our Partners

When the great missionary to India, William Carey, faced hardships, he would say, “The future is as bright as the promises of God.” God’s future for us is bright. This year, expect God’s blessings and provision to come your way. The scripture says in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you … plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” (NIV). Thank you so much for the part that you play in fulfilling the vision of Sherry Jones Ministries. This year, 2012, will be full of opportunities and also full of victories. Together, we will work to fulfill God’s plans for this generation.

In Christ,

Dean and Sherry Jones
